
Rosie Perez (born Rosa Maria Perez on the 6th of September 1964) is an American actress choreographer, dancer and activist. Her first big break came with Tina's role in Do the Right Thing (1989), then followed closely by White Men Can't Hop (1992). Perez's performance as Tina in Fearless (1993), earned her an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. Perez has been in numerous films since then with some of them being It Could Happen to You (1994), The Road to El Dorado ((2000), Pineapple Express (2008) and Birds of Prey (2021). She was nominated for three Primetime Emmy Award nominations, one for In Living Color (1990-1994), and another nomination for her role as The Flight Attendant (2020-2021). Her roles have included Broadway stage productions such as The Ritz and Frankie, Johnny in the Clair de Lune and Fish in the Dark. In the 18th season, she also co-hosted on ABC's talk show The View. She was a graduate of Grover Cleveland High School in Ridgewood, Queens. [11] In 1999 her mother was living in poverty at Woodside Houses when she died from complications arising from AIDS.
